The Utley Wedding

One of the very best special orders I've completed has been for Michelle & Jeremy Utley's wedding. Michelle had the most open mind when it came to bridesmaid's dresses: she wanted the uniqueness of each of her friends to be reflected in the dresses they wore. So, instead of having them all wear the same thing, she had us custom-make dresses in multiple colors with a very vintage-y flair. They were incredibly fun to make and the pictures Michelle has been kind enough to share with us are just stunning.
The photographer will be sharing jpgs with us in the future, so our gallery will include more examples.
Until then, pictures of the Utley wedding can be found at

Thrifted Finds: lamp & shade (found about 3 years apart!) and patterned scarf

At the risk of turning this into a music blog, I have to gush about the shows we've seen recently.
The Ditty Bops were indescribably amazing. Funny, charming, so talented, we were putty in their mandolin-holding hands. They also used their show to promote petition-signing for
San Francisco's proposed ban on plastic bags, which is great. What really got us, though, was the opening act,
Jesca Hoop. You should go to her site, right now, and watch the video for Big Fish. Right now. It's like an army of ragamuffin children circling around Jesca in her amazing vintage wardrobe.

BopaliciousWe also saw Patty Griffin on Thursday and she has got the have the most soulful, beautiful, strong voice ever to come out of a 90 pound white woman with crazy red hair. Needless to say, we stood at the alter and
worshipped.

My friend Lauren is buying prints for her new room and it's making me think more about the kind of stuff I want to start hanging (my walls need a major overhaul). I came across
this amazing print by artist
Amy Sol via
Illustration Friday (an amazing site). It's the kind of thing I would hang in my imaginary child's room (that sounds spookier than I meant it to). Perhaps I should say the kid in me would want to have this hanging over my bed--could you image what great dreams would come from falling asleep under this every night?

We're seeing
The Ditty Bops on Friday at Cafe du Nord. They always have the most amazing costumes, so I'm thinking it will be an inspiring night.

Shipwrecked ghosts? With impeccable wardrobes? Really? I couldn't be more in love.
Eugeni Recuenco's work is hypnotizing.

I'm shocked I'm drawn to something on the simpler side, but it's feeding my fantasy of having an enchanted woodland forest for a bedroom.

Robert Cary Williams of the UK. I'm intrigued by his work and it makes me want to experiment more with weathering and dying fabrics. I love the organic and tattered quality of the garments. I want to feel them and see them up-close.

Emily's Spring items are in stores now and they are as amazing as ever. I love the horse print; I've been obsessed with animals lately, much to the surprise of those who know me well. I've never been an "animal person," but
Filly is changing my mind.
